Norman Lansing

Norman Lansing is a celebrated, self-taught Native American artist and member of the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe with top honors at competitive showcases across the American Southwest. He is globally recognized as one of the leading contemporary masters of sgraffito pottery. He is famously noted saying that with his precision etching techniques, if the underlying white clay is accidentally exposed, the entire piece is ruined and subsequently destroyed to preserve "spiritual balance". His work deeply portrays his Native American culture background as well as his individual artist expressions.
